Getting started with Wood Elves

Wood Elves are a difficult army to field, and as such, your pals at Old-Wizard have come up with a few tips to get a new player started with them:

-In a game where you don't have many close combat troops, a battle standard bearer is useless, unless the banner enhances shooting.

-Concentrate your firepower to bring down squads.  There can be no splitting up fire power.

-Page 33 in the army book has a sample army of 1,000 points.  In that army they have two squads of ten Glade Guard, two squads of ten Glade Riders and a small squad of dyrads.  It's a good idea to base your first 1,000 points on this idea.

-Having big lines of ten archers is a burden on how much spare space you have available.  Its advantageous in terms of shots, but unwieldy if you have to manuver.

-Take a level one Spell Singer with a magic bow and arros and remember to shoot.  Or take a level one branchwraith and have it join your treekin.

-Focus shooting on the squads that are going to cause you more problems.

-Scouts skirmish and they can shoot in any direction and move over terrain without penalty.  They would make a better rear-guard for maurading ambushing beastmen...and cost very few points.  A squad of six is 72 points...Not too Shabby.
