Nintendo Wii best selling console in US

Are we right or are we right about Nintendo? The Nintendo Wii is now the highest selling video game console currently in the US. It has shipped over 666,000 consoles in June alone (which proves even the devil loves Nintendo). The Wii totals are currently about 11 million shipped in the US. The Wii now takes over Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s Playstation 3 as the most popular video game console system. What has made the Wii so successful?. We go into this in our top ten video game systems of all time, but how about the highly unique and intuitive controllers? How about the games themselves that reach out to all audiences (Who could have ever thought that there could be a perfect bowling game in Wii Sports Bowling?) Or finally a new Mario game (Super Mario Galaxy) on par with Mario 3? Nintendo has done it again with the Wii creating a video game system more powerful than a fully operational Death Star. What’s next for Nintendo? Only the future can tell. For now though, Nintendo once again controls the video game market.

Too bad the only game all those little kids are playing is Wii Sports.

I bought one on launch day and unfortunately has not lived up to my expectations. All the first party stuff was good, but nothing stellar that we hadn’t seen before. Funny that two of the best games (ssmb and mario kart) are best played with gamecube controllers. Mine is currently in a box in my basement waiting for something good to come out. Thanks to Wii Music or whatever it doesn’t look like that will be any time soon….

Also, can’t wait to purchase my external hard drive and my motion control plus which should have both been included in the beginning

Only reason wii is selling high is because of the grandpa’s and grandma’s playing it. Even as a nintendo fan, I have to blame nintendo for not improving it’s online and graphical technology this generation. Because of them, we miss out on marvel vs capcom 3, cod 4, ff 13, sf4, bioshock, etc. Yes, there is zelda Skyward sword and metroid other m, but that’s it. Once their finished, then what? Time to sell it.

But still, I have to say it: take that xbox and sony fans! We have zelda and metroid – 2 of the greatest francises ever. The only reason I purchased the wii (no sarcasm intended).

Mario galaxy was not fun. There were only a few good tunes to the game, the planets were small, the game was easy and dedicated to children and casual gamers. SM64 was far better in every aspect.

When I bought the wii, I didn’t even consider super mario galaxy. Heck, I will never buy a nintendo console for the mario games on it. I’ve had enough of them. Mario is for kids and 50yr old gamers – as Miyamoto-san said so himself.
