Drawing mana from this artifact is played as an interrupt. Oracle text: Basalt Monolith doesn't untap during your untap step. 3: Untap Basalt Monolith. Tap: Add 3 to your mana pool. This mana can't be spent on abilities of permanents named Basalt Monolith. Artist: Jesper Myrfors Rarity: Uncommon DA... DA... DA-DA…DA-DA... DA DA DA DA DA…DA-DA DA-DA… The only reason to include this card in your deck is so that you can sing the theme from 2001: A Space Odssesy as you put it into play. Other than that we can't think of too many uses for this card. There's a million more cost effective ways to store mana, and lots more artifacts that give you cheap mana that you don't have to spend 3 colorless to untap. For two extra mana you can put a Gilded Lotus into play, which does the same thing except you don't have to pay to untap it. Both cards are too slow to be used in any sort of competitive deck. On the other hand, if you're lucky enough to have 1 mountain, 1 Basalt Monolith, and a Stone Giant in your hand it will equal ultimate destruction for your opponent...If he's still in second grade. Also useful if your opponent's an ape...It drives monkeys wild. Our Rating:
